The two-day workshop was held from the 18th of July to the 19th July 2019, in Koh Samui (Thailand). It was attended by at least two delegates from national authorities with oversight over organic agriculture from each of the 10 Member States.
The Workshop was chaired and facilitated by Dr. Apichart Pongsrihadulchai, Advisor to the Director-General, Rice Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand, with following experts presented their remarks and expertise:
– Mr. Wittawat Sarasalin, Deputy Secretary General National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards of Thailand, delivered remarks about the workshop.
– Mr. Apisit Prakarnkamanant, the Division of Standard Accreditation, National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards (ACFS) of Thailand delivered presentation on the Accreditation of Organic Agriculture Certification under International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC).
– Mr. Rajinder Raj Sud, representative of the EU ARISE Plus presented the Overview of the Case Study of ASEAN MRAs
– Mr. Parama Iswara Subramaniam, expert of the EU ARISE Plus presented the outcomes of the Study on Organic Agricultural Products: Regulations, Certification and Labelling & MRAs which was conducted from July ? September 2018
The delegation from the ASEAN Member States (AMSs) presented their certification and accreditation system on Organic Agriculture, as their exchange of view on the control of official inspection and certification system. The workshop also facilitated discussions among the delegations with final recommendations and proposal to do follow-up activities in the region.
