The 4th workshop on Development of Agreement for Implementation of the ASEAN Food Safety Regulatory Framework (AFSRF) was held in Jakarta (Indonesia) from 30 July 2019 to 1 August 2019. The workshop was a follow-up to the 3rd workshop held in Ho Chi Minh City on the 28 – 30 January, 2019.
The workshop discussed the update on the progress in the development of the AFSRF Agreement and summary of comments received from the ASEAN Member States (AMS). The discussions cover the General arrangement and sequence the Articles; the Preamble, Article 1 Objectives, Article 2 Scope, Principles; and Article 4 Definitions, Article 5. General Provisions, Article 6: Recognition of results of inspections, certifications and SPS measures.
Furthermore, discussions also continued on the comments received on Article 8 on ASEAN Bodies for Food Safety; Article 9 on Competent Authority in Member States; Article 10 on Protocols to the ASEAN Food Safety Regulatory Framework; Article 11 on Harmonization with International Standards; and Article 12 on Capacity Building and Cooperation.
