Discussion Forum on the ASEAN Risk Assessment Centre (ARAC) for Food Safety was held on 25th June 2019 in Nha Trang, Viet Nam. The Discussion Forum was organised in conjunction with the 4th Meeting of Health Cluster 4 on Ensuring Food Safety and in preparation for another workshop on the review and evaluation of ARAC for Food Safety led by Malaysia. The intervention was conducted as a follow up to the discussions on the ARAC held at the 3rd meeting of ASEAN Health Cluster 4: Ensuring Food Safety.
The objectives of the Discussion Forum include:
- Reviewing the progress made by ARAC since its establishment;
- Drawing lessons from the first risk assessment conducted by ARAC;
- Examining proposals for enhancing ARACs operations in terms of enhancing outputs in terms of quality, and relevance and governance; and
- Seeking ways to involve Member States risk assessment centres in ARACs activities.
