With the support of the Thai Customs Department, the EU-funded programme ARISE Plus organised a regional workshop for ASEAN Customs Officers on the implementation of Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) programmes. The AEO is a major strategy of the World Customs Organisations (WCO), whereby customs authorities work with reliable operators to facilitate international trade. The workshop aims to build the capacity of ASEAN Customs officials to implement AEO programmes and support the development of Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MRA) between ASEAN Member States. ARISE Plus supports regional economic integration in ASEAN, including the development of an harmonised customs environment to facilitate regional trade.
